Ruth Ellen Davis-Perez was born December 5, 1929 in Chester Pa, to the late
Carl N. Davis and the Late Ida M. Perrigan Davis. Raised in Sharon Hill where
she attended the Darby Township School District before the family moved
back to Chester Pa where she attended Chester schools. As a young adult
she worked various jobs before attending Delaware County Community
College and excelled in the Social Services Field as a Social Worker, Child
Care Worker and Civil Activist. She met and married the late Inocencio Perez
Sr. and continued her work developing programs that have had a positive
impact on her community. Ruth played an active role in the development of
many programs including but not limited to The Grandparent’s Program,
Domestic Abuse Program of Delaware County, Women Against Rape, Planned
Parenthood, Youth in Action, ASPIRA, Literacy Council of Chester, Urban
Gardening of Penn State, Farm Workers Union of New Jersey and California.
She was a manager of youth entertainment groups in Chester. She helped
develop Early Childhood Screening, Title One (federal programs) and
Bilingual programs. She accompanied youth in court appearances as a Court
Advocate for Children and Youth Services (CYS), as well as summer park
programs. She was involved in the Cardinals Commission of Philadelphia
Diocese, programs for the homeless, and many more accomplishments
throughout her life. In 1970 Greater Chester Movement Youth Council
presented Ruth with an acknowledgment of grateful appreciation for faithful
service to the youth in the community. She retired in 1990 from Children and
Youth Services. She became ill in the year 2000 and surrendered to her
illness on November 23, 2020.
Survived by 3 children Rafael Perez (wife Diane) of Delaware, Ida Bell of
California, and Angela Bobo of Chester. 1 sister Palestine Anderson of Sharon
Hill, 36 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Predeceased by her husband Inocencio Perez Sr. 1 daughter Emma Perez, 2
sons Victory M. Perez, Inocencio Perez Jr., Son- in-law Kenneth Bell, 1
Granddaughter Reina Plaza, 2 grandsons David Plaza, and Timothy Bowman,
3 Great Grandson Michael Brigman Jr, Louis Deedon, and Victor Towns-Perez.
