Richard Louis Gibbs, Sr entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2021. Richard was born July 6, 1935 in Chester, PA to the late Elizabeth Cottman-Hunter and James Gibbs. Richard was nurtured by his beloved late Kirkwood Cottman.
Richard attended Chester-Upland School District, soon after that he joined the U. S. Air Force in 1954. Later he married Louise Jackson who preceded him in death.
Richard was employed by Walber’s and several restaurants throughout New York and Atlantic City area, as he was an avid chef. He really enjoyed cooking earlier in life. Later after retirement he started working for Jacob’s Fuel Oil.
Richard enjoyed watching sports, especially local teams, putting them down when they did bad and lifting them up when they did good. He enjoyed his bus rides to 69th St, Penns Landing, Norristown, Allentown, and all around the Delaware and Philadelphia counties. Not withholding he was a pretty good fisherman. He really got a kick out of fishing. Richard was independent and he be counted on in a time of need until his health began to fail him.
Richrd was preceded in death by his sisters: Mary Lena Jennings, Ruth Chambers, Bettie Washington, Lorraine Bush, Sylvia Cooper-Smith, and Clara Freeman. He leaves to cherish his memories, his son Richard L Gibbs, Jr, two grandchildren, Sean Freeman and Kira Brown. Five Great Grandchildren, Little Sean, Jana, Seana, Jada and Ky. Two brothers, Edward Gibbs (Liz), Kirkwood Cottman (Marylin). Two sisters, Ann Marie Cottman-Ricks (Cleo), Barbara Tucker. Two devoted nieces, Danyelle who would ride him around and Linda, like a daughter/caregiver. And a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
