Richard Benson, affectionately known as “Sweet Pete” entered his earthly life on April 1, 1952 to Richard Benson Sr of Sharon Hill, Pa and Delores(Bobbi) Ricks of Chester, Pa
Richard attended school in the Darby Township and Chester Upland School Districts. Richard was a very hardworking man who worked for Blosenski and Laxton Sanitation Company, Skelly and Ramos Construction Company, Kem Corporation and Signature Mail Transportation Company. Pete also started his own trucking company.
Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was a member of First Baptist Church of Darby in Darby, Pa under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Raymond A Merriweather. Pete loved his church and was a member of the Ushers Ministry, Senior Sanctuary Choir, The Men’s Fellowship as well as the Security Team.
Richard departed this life on September 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his parents Richard Benson Sr and Delores Ricks, stepfather Thomas H. Ricks, son Richard Benson Jr, grandson Demetrius Jones and caregiver and loving nephew Wayne Tucker Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Vontel Green, grandchildren Vaniqua Green, Viola Green, Dion Jones, Jamir Benson, Natasha Benson and Tiana Benson, great grandchildren Da’Niiyah Jones and Steven Pyant Jr, sisters Thelma Trusty of Chester Pa, Cheryl Griffin(Paul) of Wilmington DE, his brother Marvin Benson Benson of New Jersey, his cargiver and loving niece Lyndel Tucker, a very dear friend Margie Barksdale and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
