Rafael Mercado, 18, of York, PA, passed away on Monday, December 29. He was born at WellSpan York Hospital, to Kayle Joyner and Rafael Mercado. He was a junior at William Penn High School. He was known for loving the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a special way of making everyone around him feel safe, welcomed and loved. His big heart, bright smile, and infectious laughter could change the mood in any room. He found joy in the simple things, especially good food, which always brought him comfort and a smile. Although his time with us was far too short, the love he gave so freely and the memories we shared with him will live on forever. His spirit remains with us in every laugh, every smile, and every moment of love. He will always be deeply loved and never forgotten.

He is survived by his loving parents Kayle Joyner and Rafael Mercado,  Grand Parents Juanita Joyner, Keith Joyner Sr., Rafael Mercado and Clementina Deleon, (Son) Kasiah Mercado, (Partner) Nylanie Gonzalez, (Siblings) Kymora Burnett, Fabion Marshall , Orion McRae Jr, N’Diyahh McRae, Israel Gurganiou and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Great-Grandmothers, Geraldine Wright, Margaret Deleon, Alice Robinson Twyman, Great-Grandfather, David Harrison Gray Sr.
