The Life of Nathan Cephas
Nathan Cephas, son of Lloyd Walton Cephas and Bernice Holland-Cephas was born August 20th, 1949 in Fort Benning, Georgia. Under the protection of Almighty God, he departed this life on Friday, May 9th 2025.
Nate Attended Chester High School in Chester PA. Class of 1967. After high school he became the father to his first born child Desiree’ Cephas and went on to marry his high school sweet heart Renee’ Cephas. They were married 56 years before her untimely passing in April, 2024.
Nathan at the early age of 19, started his own construction company called Specialty Structure and Renovation. With his skills, hard work, dedication to his craft, and determination to become his own man, Specialty Structure and Renovation grew into an empire. One that would take care of his family for years to come. He didn’t just build an empire, he built up a rapport with his clients and the community by providing quality work, good customer service, honesty and trust. People called Nate because they knew he could get the job done! Nate also loved to sing. Singing was his first love. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was a member of the talented group The Ebonys. One of his favorite things to do in his spare time was ride his motorcycle. He was a member of the famous bike club Thunder Guards.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Lloyd Walton Cephas, mother Bernice Marie Holland, brother Terrance Lewis Sr., sister Lois Ross, wife Renee’ Cephas, daughter Desiree’ Cephas, son Nathan Cephas Jr., and grandson La’Ron Majeed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Son Brian Cephas (Newark,DE); daughter Crystal Snow (Columbia,SC); daughter in-law Sharon Cephas (Newark,DE); three nephews Terrance “Ace” Lewis Jr. (Chester,PA), Tracy Cephas (Bear,DE), Dayne Ross (Chester,PA); Thirteen Grandchildren, La’Nee’ Simmons (Secane, PA), La’Mia Brown (Colwyn,PA), La’Asia Brown (Folcroft,PA), Robert “Robbie” Archer (Glenolden,PA), Miraj Cephas (Chester,PA), Nathan Cephas III (Newark,DE), Sha’Nasia “Mommas” Cephas (Newark,DE), Erin Caple (Columbia,SC), Ember Serrano (Columbia,SC), Tia Serrano (Columbia,SC), Christina Simmons (Buffalo,NY), Natriona Simmons (Buffalo,NY), and Tawfiq Auchter (Chester,PA); twelve great grandchildren, La’Ron Majeed Jr., Mason Rhedrick, Roman Johnson, Cameron Simmons, Journee Foster, Maraj Cephas, Makarri Cephas, and Makai Cephas, Ayden Claridy, Laila Yellowdy, Aspen Serrano, Bailey Serrano, and a host of cousins and friends.
