Modesto Montes Rodriguez (1950–2026)
Born June 15, 1950, passed peacefully on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1975, he married the love of his life, Aida Iris Montes, and together they built a beautiful family.
He was a devoted father to Roselyn Montes, Hiraida Montes, Ivelisse Montes, and Joel Modesto Montes.
He was also a proud and loving grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Franklin, Jocelyn, Asia, Niylah, Selena, Josiah, Xander, Aidan, Demarco, Ariana, and his youngest and most recent blessing, Jonelisse Iris. He shared a special and unique bond with each of them.
Affectionately known as “Mode” or “Montes,” Modesto was known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness.
He was a mentor to many, both young and old, who became more like family than friends.
He was a pillar of strength and support in his community and within his family.
Modesto was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and respected elder.
As the oldest sibling, he was a leader and guiding light to his three brothers, three sisters, and countless cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to him.
He had a deep love for music and celebration. He sang and played congas in a Spanish band in his younger years. He dabbled with the trumpet, played guitar, sang karaoke, and showed off his famous salsa and bachata dance moves. Modesto made every gathering unforgettable. Christmas dinners were never complete without him pulling out the karaoke machine while the women cooked in the kitchen.
He loved hosting domino game nights, telling jokes, and keeping everyone laughing.
He was a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed watching WWE and Boxing, whether at the Spectrum, or on pay per view, Monday Night Raw, or Saturday Night SmackDown. He also had a passion for classic cars, especially white Camaros.
His love, laughter, and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
