Marianne Gale Obituary

Her labor was not in vain

Marianne Rose Gale affectionally known as Sister Gale, Baby Sister or Sis was triumphantly greeted at the celestial shores of heaven in the presence of family following a brief illness on July 21, 2021.

Sister was born on January 14, 1969, in the City of Philadelphia to parents Samuel Clinton Gale Sr. and LaVerne Georgetta Costen-Gale. Sister became a beloved daughter of Chester in the 70’s when step-father Stanley (Pop) Carr Sr. proudly welcomed her as one of his own children. Marianne was educated in the Chester Upland School District and as a class of “86” Chester High School graduate the name Sister followed her into the workforce.

Employed by Fair Acres Geriatric Center for over 27 years, in the Food and Nutrition Department, Marianne began her career as a dietary aide where she received numerous awards for several years of perfect attendance and distinguished honors as an employee of Delaware County. Later, becoming a supervisor Marianne was valued and respected as a leader, hard- worker and team player being recognized for her heroic service during our global pandemic, she always remained courteous, graceful and focused.

Marianne, or Sister, honorably carried the greatest joy of being a mother and grandmother that she could always be seen with her only daughter and any combination of her 4 grandchildren at any given time, if not at the same time. Marianne appreciated all her time spent with the women in the “Birthday Club” where memories were made as she will be dearly missed. Sister enjoyed shopping especially at Victoria’s Secret with her granddaughter, where they loved to dress alike, an avid sneaker enthusiast she could be spotted wearing the same sneakers as her grandsons. With much laughter filled moments spent with her family and friends dancing and having game nights or singing karaoke her height of 5’3 stood like a giant and conversations with Sister will be missed.

Marianne was preceded in death by both her parents Samuel Clinton Sr. and Laverne Georgetta Gale and brother Keith Gale.

She leaves to cherish her stepfather, Stanley Carr; brothers Samuel C. Jr (Estelle) and Richard (Lynelle) Gale; only daughter Tanesha Deshields, eldest grandson TahQuan DeShields; only granddaughter Tahjae Young; and twins Tahjee and TahQui Deshields. Sister later adopted her niece Tychell Gale as her own daughter all while, selflessly demonstrating care to those around her just like her own mother once did, Sister will remain forever close to the hearts of those that knew and loved her dearly which consisted of, step-sisters and brother; many nieces, nephews, aunties, cousins and many, many dear friends and special friend Christopher Briscoe, our beloved Sister Gale trusted the path that the Lord, chose for her as she peacefully and fearlessly took her gentle steps upon the celestial shores of heaven.

A Daughter’s Promise

Every time I smile,

Every time I sigh,

I think of your face,

And a tear escapes my eye.

You were my world,

My inspiration and my heart,

But when you left me,

I thought I would fall apart.

You were my best friend,

My one true confidant,

And that’s not all you were.

You were also my mom.

I didn’t want to live without you,

But you would have wanted me to,

And if there’s anyone, I want to make happy,

That anyone is you.

I would have given anything to have you back,

But I know now that it was meant to be,

For you are still watching from up there,

And I know you’re watching me.

I’ll make you proud, Mom.

I’m going to fulfill your wish.

You’re going to see me and smile.

That’s a daughter’s promise.
