Katrina Griffin

Katrina (Trina) Griffin, born March 16, 1963, in Los Angeles, California was the beloved
daughter to the late Andrell and Ralph Griffin and beloved sister of Eric Griffin. Katrina passed
away September 4, 2020 at her home in Philadelphia. Katrina was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System earning her high school diploma in 1981 from West Philadelphia High School. Following in her mother’s footsteps she received her nursing certification from the Philadelphia Training Center in 1984. After receiving her
certification she found work with several nursing homes and health care facilities. She settled into a position with Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in West Philadelphia were she was a
committed employee of 16 years. After dedicating more than 30 years of service to her career she retired from nursing in 2016. She found new passion in her work with children as a daycare
center teacher giving her a renewed sense of purpose. Through a union with Marcus Gregory, Katrina gave birth to her first child Marcus Griffin in
1982. She met the love of her life Paul Brooks in Southwest Philadelphia in 1983 and have since been inseparable. They shared a love of fishing, the beach and several other activities.
From this union, two children Christopher and Ryan Griffin were born. All three children were raised in a home full of love and respect.
Katrina loved gardening, talking to friends, true crime stories and passionately staying involved in the lives of those she loved. A truly devoted grandmother, she spent most of her free time
with her granddaughters doing a variety of activities. She was a mother to all, opening her heart and often her home to the neighborhood children.
The loss of a matriarch and rock of a family is very difficult, but her presence, her voice, her words, her wisdom, her magic and her unconditional love has eternally blessed the lives of her
friends and loved ones. Katrina was predeceased by her beloved youngest son Ryan Andrew Griffin. She leaves to
cherish her memory: Her devoted husband of thirty-seven years Paul Brooks; two children, Marcus M. Griffin and Christopher Paul Griffin; daughter in law Alicia Lotts; two grandchildren,
Rylee and Skylar Griffin; one brother Eric Griffin; beloved extended family member Demetrius
Jasper and a host of family and close friends.
