John Hayward Obituary

John A. Hayward was born on November 10, 1953, in Chester Township. He was the son of the late Sherman Hayward and Rose Watson. John passed away on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 due to a chronic illness.

John, affectionately known as Johnny, graduated from Chester High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 6 years with an honorable discharge. He worked at Sunship as a laborer in Chester, PA. He also had various other jobs as a laborer. Johnny loved cutting grass and transporting people in need. He enjoyed watching football and basketball. His favorite team was the 49ers.

John leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years, Jacqueline Hofmann-Hayward, 2 brothers, David (Shirley) Walker, and Michael (Cheryl) Haynes, 1 brother-law, Vern (Justine) Holley, 2 sister-in- laws, Dorothea Watson and Mary (Hector) Franceschi, 4 aunts, Arlene Toler, Jennie Brooks, Genie Watson and Myrtle Peace, 1 uncle Butch Holley, 4 nephews, Marvin, Joe, Tony, and Steve, special granddaughter Mariah Tucker, his niece/caregiver Tia Tucker-Carney and special cousin Chris Lawrence who were always there for Jackie and Johnny, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Hayward and Rose Watson, 2 brothers, Kerry Watson-Hayward and Ernie Hayward, brother-in-law Joe Hofmann, maternal grandmother, Ethel Carter and paternal grandmother, Millie Hayward-Lang.
