James Williams Obituary

James Cornelius Williams Jr., 18, was born April 25, 2002 in Chester, Pennsylvania and departed this earth on March 6, 2021. He is the beloved son of Catrina Jacobs and James Williams Sr.

James, a 2020 graduate of Upper Darby High School, was loved and cherished by his family and close friends. In his almost 19 years of life, James had the pleasure of actively participating in school and extracurricular activities such as wrestling, honors choir, and acting with People’s Light and Theatre Company. At an early age, he was known as a math wizard and skilled workman as he learned various trades. His high school teachers remember him as ambitious, determined, smart, honest and polite.

James enjoyed working with his hands and could repair and build almost anything. He had a keen eye for problem solving and used these skills to help family members with repairs and assembling items. Under the leadership and guidance of his uncle Darryl, James learned carpentry, flooring, appliance installation, junk removal and many other trades. In recent years, James worked side by side with his uncle to learn and operate the family business that seeks to give back to the community.

James loved the Lord and received his spiritual upbringing and nourishment as a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Chester, Pennsylvania. Throughout the years, James sang on the youth choir and assisted in outreach efforts through the church’s Mission of Care Program. Proverbs 22:6 reads: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” It is with this Godly principle that James was raised and educated.

James had great potential and would have, without a doubt, made great strides in life. In memory of James, remember that life is precious and never to be taken for granted. Each day is a new opportunity to start fresh and accept God’s love for you.

We will always remember James’ infectious smile and love for his family. His presence is greatly missed.

James was preceded in death by his brother Sharif Nehemiah and sister Janiyah Hope. He leaves to cherish his devoted mother Catrina Jacobs, father James Williams, siblings Kierra, Kayla and Jadon; godparents La-Fennis and Tywanda Jacobs, uncle and mentor Darryl Williams, devoted aunt Marium Williams; spiritual confidant and grandmother Rev. Catherine O. Jacobs and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

A private celebration of life service will be attended by family. We thank you for your continued support and prayers.
