James Douglas Martin

James Douglas “Doug” Martin, 58, departed this earth on August 12,2021, with his family by his side at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
Doug was born May 27, 1963 in Chester County, to Linwood and Barbara Martin. He was the third of seven children.
Doug graduated from Chester High School in 1981. He then joined the The United States Marine Corp, where he served for six years. He was honorably discharged from the military and then settled into the life of a postal worker. He was employed by the USPS for over 20 years, where he got the beloved name “The Mailman.” His hobbies included bowlingi, attending and watching his favorite football team, The Eagles, playing and dealing cards, baking his famous ham for every special occasion, and raising his grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Martin and his grandson, Ti’Kere A’Sean Martin. He is survived by his father, Linwood Martin, Jr, his brother Linwood Martin III, and sisters Mary L. Martin, Stefanie A. (Gerald) Taylor, Patricia M. Martin, Charlotte D. Martin, and Hope E. Martin. His six children: Nicole Martin, Ebony (Justin) Bush, Sean (Tarone) Thomas, Jamaal Martin, Douglas Martin, and Kiersten Martin; his eleven grandchildren: Jada, Allure, Ahmeerah, Tyree, Elijah, Kimora, Madison, Tarone Jr, Jaiden, Kayla, and Autumn; his three godchildren: Kenny, Jessie and Janette; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
