We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Lewis M. Hunt-Irving Funeral Home Inc.
Ernestine Boulware departed this life on Saturday Aug 28, 2021, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Ernestine was born December 14, 1936, to the late Emma Mattox and John Spencer.
We thank God for sharing Ernestine with us on this Earth for 84 years and she will be truly missed.
Ernestine was raised in Asheboro, North Carolina until her mother relocated them to Chester, Pennsylvania. She attended Perry A Wright school, Frederick Douglass, and graduated from Chester High School, class of 1955.
At a young age, she joined Bethany Baptist Church where she was very active in the church. She sang on the Daniel choir with her mom and with United Voices of Fellowship. She also helped in the kitchen at her church.
During her spare time, she would go to her favorite store…WALMART and shop all day if she could.
She worked at West Lake Plastic Company in the 1970s for many years until she retired from the company.
She was a member of the Senior Center where they named her, “The Mayor”. She loved to play Pinochle with friends at the center and at her house. She loved to dance and was amazing on the skates and loved to bowl. She loved to travel with her adopted sisters, Ruth Mattox and Ellen Cheers.
She raised one grandson, Marvin Thomas, two granddaughters, Denise Boulware and Shameka Boulware, and a niece, Dana Winsley.
Ernestine is predeceased by her mother, Emma Mattox, father, John Spencer, son, Luther Boulware Jr., daughter, Doris Boulware, two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law, Sara White-Franklin.
Ernestine leaves behind to cherish her memory: Son Hilliard Boulware, Stepson Raymond Boulware, special grandson Marvin Thomas, two granddaughters, Denise and Shameka Boulware, adopted sisters, Ruth Mattox and Ellen Cheers, daughter-in-law Bernadette Thomas, and brother-in-law Townsend Boulware.
