She was a life-long resident of Chester. Born in Chester, stayed in Chester, and died in Chester. She began her journey in life at her neighborhood schools of Booker T. Washington and Frederick Douglass Junior High. She was an excellent speller. As a young person she was devoted to her grandmother Nan and grandmother Tillie. They would play Pattie Cake and all kinds of fun games. Then there were the cooking episodes in the kitchen making delicious Coconut Cakes, the best kind of Banana Cream Pies, and mouth watering Apple Dumplings. Diann loved family outings, especially where there were crabbing expeditions to Oak Orchard, Delaware or Crisfield, Maryland. On each occasion the family would catch all the crabs 12 persons could eat at one sitting.

Yet let the truth be told, Diann in her our special ways, would reach out to help others using her limited resources. In her own ways she would share from her store house of worldly goods, especially for her loving cat Tabby. Very often she would buy food items for her brother and sent gifts to her nephews.

Diann accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. To all who had the pleasure of personally knowing her, could witnessed the fact she loved the Lord. She a member of the Old St. Luke Junior Choir. Very often, back in the day, she would be on her knees as she joined the Family Watchnight Prayer session to bring in the New Year.
