Darryl’s Story
Darryl Joseph Wilford was the first child born to Virginia Abrams Wilford, and the late Palmore (Palsy) George Wilford at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, PA on May 25, 1960. He was educated in Chester Upland Schools, graduating from Chester High School in the class of 1978.
Upon graduation Darryl established a career with PECO Energy and became an independent contractor as an IT tech for many years. Darryl continued his education graduating from Phoenix University and continuing with a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Wilmington University.
He always kept himself in shape as evidenced with his third degree Black Belt. He loved jazz, art and traveling to the islands. That love of art and having an entrepreneurial spirit propelled him into Personal Preference Artwork where he and his wife Mary Ann Alexander were business partners.
Darryl accepted the Lord and Savior and became a member of Alpha Baptist Church in Bear Delaware. There he was a dedicated member of the Mighty Men of Valor, Prayer Ministry, and the Tech Team. He was a prayer warrior and encouraged his friends and family members to let go and let God. He was active member of the York Farms Maintenance committee and participated in annual “giving back” events held within his community.
Darryl relocated to North Carolina where he transitioned this year.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Pamela Jean Wilford.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving mother Virginia Abrams, daughter Cherish Robinson (Jamai), sister Kristin Wilford, brother Eric Wilford, loving grandchildren Skyler and Chloe Robinson, nephews Joshua, Elias, & Miles, nieces Heather and Nora, God-mother Norma Jordan, God-sister Kenya, God-brother Robert Wilkins lifelong friends Bruce Jones, Stefan Roots and brother in law Kenny Alexander, and a host of family and friends.
