The Life of Carolyn Vincent Wright
May 12, 1939 – February 2, 2025
Carolyn Vincent Wright was born on May 12, 1939, the second of four children of Jane Lytle Wright of Morton, Pennsylvania and Vincent Augustus Wright of St. Michaels, Maryland. Carolyn shared a happy childhood with her parents and siblings, Sarah Jane Walker (deceased), Vincent A. Wright, Jr. (deceased), and Anthony D. Wright. Carolyn grew up in a close-knit family, surrounded by love and strong values which shaped her throughout her life.
In Morton, she attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School and later graduated from Swarthmore High School. After high school, she began her career at Bell Telephone as a telephone operator, where she was known for her professionalism and warm demeanor. Over the years, she transitioned into accounts payable and remained dedicated to the company, retiring from what is now known as Verizon. She was a loyal citizen of Morton and volunteered at the YMCA.
Carolyn had a passion for travel, which she used as a way to stay connected with family and friends. She especially cherished her visits with her sister, Sarah Jane Walker, and took great joy in spending time with her nieces and nephews. Above all, she was a devoted mother to her son, Anthony Bruce Wright, and took immense pride in his accomplishments throughout high school and college. Her unwavering support and encouragement were a constant source of strength for those she loved.
In addition to her travels and family life, Carolyn had a deep sense of compassion, often stepping in to assist relatives as they navigated the challenges of aging. She was a pillar of support, offering kindness and care whenever it was needed.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory, her ever-faithful son, Anthony Bruce Wright; brother, Anthony Tony Wright; nieces, Sherry Walker and Sarah (Patty) Garcia; nephew, Lawrence Walker; Aunt Jackie Williams; best friend, Yvonne Somerville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
