Carmen Iris Sierra Moyet of Philadelphia, PA (hometown Chester, PA) departed peacefully at home at the age of 61 on June 30, 2023.
Carmen‘s infectious smile would light up any room and her warm presence made all feel welcomed. She had a unique and vibrant spirit, always marching to the beat of her own drum, unafraid to embrace her individuality. She was a passionate cook and loved to dance and listen to her favorites, whether it was a classic Spanish salsa or a good ole’ country tune. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Carmen cheered her team on with unwavering loyalty through victories and defeats. The beach and outdoors held a special place in her heart where she found a sense of freedom and tranquility.
Carmen retired from the Chester Upland School District in 1998 after serving for twenty years. She was a dedicated worker known to hold multiple positions within her community including Chester News Stand, Pennwood, and numerous food establishments.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Alberto Moyet Sanchez, her mother Theresa Sierra Cruz and her brother Victor L. Sierra Jr. She is survived by her father Victor L. Sierra Sr. (Aida), two children, Carmen McDonald (Marc), Alberto Moyet Jr. (Dorothy), eleven siblings Luis Sierra Sr. (Traci), Ricardo Sierra (Connie), Rosemarie Encarnacion, Alfred Rodriguez, Lisa Sierra, Debbie Sierra, Stephanie Sierra, Delia Nelson (Calvin), Susan Sierra, Carmen Martinez, and Wanda Perry, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Lewis M. Hunt-Irving Funeral Home; 2316 Providence Avenue; Chester, PA 19013 on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please send donations in Carmen’s honor to Community Interactions, Inc. or Autism Speaks.
