The last Matriarch Alice Robinson, (Walker) was the seventh of nine children born to Pliney D. and Susie Watts Robinson in Dixie, Georgia. All her siblings have predeceased her Cora Mae Robinson (Nether), Lily Robinson, (Campbell), Mabel Robinson, (Thompkins), Marie Robinson, (Spencer), Emily Robinson, (Douglas) Pliney Robinson, Susie Robinson, (Leary). Alice graduated from Elementary and Junior High School at Cross Road, Brooks County School. She also graduated from Summon High School. Alice joined the Friend Methodist Church in Georgia at an early after living in Georgia she migrated to Philadelphia Pennsylvania where she lived with her sister Marie and brother-in-law Elmo Spencer. Alice worked several jobs in Philadelphia before finally moving to Chester, where she lived with her sister Mabel L. and brother-in-law John H. Thompkins. She took some classes at Douglas Jr. High School and some Office Machine and typing classes at Chester High School. Alice met and married Robert Lee Walker in 1950 and from this union they produced three children, Stephanie Jill Walker (Perez), Janice Olivia Walker (Cook) and Robert Lamont Walker. Alice joined the St. Luke Community Christian Church that she loved so much under the Pastor of Pastor L. C. Coleman, Pastor Ball and the current Pastor Anderson. Some of her church activities included Senior Choir Chaplin, Trustee Board Secretary, Building Fund and Captain Committee Business Manager, Choral Ensemble Advisor Leader of Class 3, Jr. Trustees Administrator. She was also Chairman of several banquets and Senior Choir Anniversary events. She loved her Church dearly. Alice graduated from the Thompkins Academy of Beauty Culture, receiving her license from Apex School of Cosmetics in Philadelphia and becoming a hair stylist. Upon graduating from the Beauty Culture School she wrote the Class song. She then managed and operated the Hy-Style Beauty Salon on 9 th and Pusey, eventually moving the shop next door to her house and continuing until she retired. Alice then spent the remainder of her retirement at home and during this time she also took a trip to Jerusalem.
