Alice Evans Obituary

Alice L Evans, 86, of Brookhaven, PA passed away on 8/15/2020 in Media, PA at Riddle Hospital
with her beloved granddaughter Lakerra Johnson by her bedside. Alice L Evans was born in Fayetteville, NC to Leonidas Carter and Ellen Allen Carter on July 4,1934. She attended school at Armstrong High School in Fayetteville, NC. She later married Leroy Evans and began a family. Alice came to Chester, PA in 1966 with 11 children and has since made it her home. To know her was to love her, whenever she entered a room you knew you were going to get a good laugh and no matter how bad your day was going her smile alone would brighten your day. She retired from West Chester University where she worked in Janitorial. She worked in the Chester Upland School District for many years and was known as the Grand Mom of Chester. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a wonderful woman who helped anyone in need no matter what the circumstances. If
you were hungry she would feed you, if you were homeless she would give you a place to lay your head. If you needed help financially she would do all she could. And when all else failed,
she would do what she did best and that’s pray for you. She would take people to church by car, truck, or van, whatever she had to do she made sure you got there. When she touched a
piano, it was like watching magic unfold she’d tilt her head and sing like no other. She had musical abilities beyond your belief and she would deliver God’s message through song. If you
did not know God she made you want to embrace and believe in his word. Alice was a devoted member of True Way Church of Christ Jesus Apostolic Faith, Inc. under Elder Charles Medley.
Anyone who knew her knew how much she loved the Lord. He was the head of her life, she never missed an opportunity to tell anyone about the goodness of the Lord. Her dedication and personal relationship with God, often on display for everyone to witness. She was never afraid to tell you and guide you into who Jesus is. She would make you want to do right and turn your
life around because Heaven is where you want to go. She painted a vivid picture in your mind about this glorious place with pearly gates, streets of gold and rejoicing in the Lord all day every
day. Alice would pray for and with anyone seeking the Lord, she would fall asleep on her knees in prayer. Her connection with God kept her family safe, she would fast and pray and pay her tithes faithfully. And if you had questions and she couldn’t give you an answer she wasn’t afraid to call her Pastor to get you clarification. She tried instilling in everyone who’d listen God’s
Grace and Mercy is Everlasting. Alice was not only a mother of 11 children she helped raise over 75 foster children in her
lifetime. Some weren’t even foster children people knew how much she loved kids and they would ask for help when needed. She would open her heart and home to make sure you always felt love. She received many awards and honor of achievements for her dedicated works as a foster parent. She was an inspiration to many a God Sent, a real angel here on earth. Alice is
